Adaptive Headlight Module Coding

Cliff Notes version of my story thus far:

1. Noticed that oen of my adaptive headlight module is dead

2. Replaced it with a part I got from an online parts dealer

3. The adaptive headlight on the driver side was not working. It was stuck in the outermost position

4. Looked at realoem.com and realized that the module doesn't come programmed

4. Took it to the dealer and they can't figure out how to program it

5. So they decided to replace the whole headlight

6. They claimed that the light was working when I picked up the car.

7. The light was not working coz it was stuck in the innermost position

8. Took it back to the dealer and they replaced it with another headlight, still not working.

9. Inquired again about coding of the AHL module but they still don't know what I'm talking about

10. I threw my hands up in the air and handed them an AHL module that is coded (I got that from ADHD with his Euro AHL xenons). Voila, AHL is working like it should again!

So, anyone with experience in coding the AHL module? I don't believe that the dealer does not have the ability to encode that. How else are they going to be able to fix the cars with broken headlights?

Talked to a BMW Master Tech over the weekend and he stated that those modules need to be programmed by the dealer for them to work properly. I don't know why my dealer can't do this, but the tech has offered to help me with this.

Yep the AHL has to be coded, but not the headlights. The AHL is the control module that controls the adaptive headlights. It's coded/programmed with the software station every dealer in the world has.........wonder why they couldn't program it.

Yes I'm reviving the dead but I'm so glad I searched for this. I just replaced my AHL control module. It was stuck in the outermost position. Now it moves on start-up but doesn't track with the driver side light. I guess I'll be going to my local dealer to fix this. Hopefully all this time later they know what I'm talking about

Make sure your lights in the "auto" position and not the "on" position.
