Hey guys,

Ive been having problems with my 335i E92.

I first encountered this problem when i accelerated uphill on DS, the Engine Malf. light came on as i was at around 4-5k RPM. So i took it to the dealer and this is what they gave me.

So they said they are going to fix it on Friday because they dont have a replacement part and that the light wont come on anymore.

Uhuhh..

So i was merging on the 101 freeway and guess what?

BAM! Engine Malf. turned on again (not the best pic but took this pic while i was accelerating after i merged, lets just say im a quickdraw camera guy

)

So i when i got home i heard this weird noise.

What do you guys think it is? Im posting it on here hoping to get some answers. Thanks!

How about you don't redline the engine when you know something is wrong with it?

Most def the waste gates. Mine was a little worse than that when I took it in last week and they replaced the turbos! I too had mysterious underboost codes a few weeks before the waste gate rattle got really bad, not sure if it was related. You can take it in now and they will upgrade the software and if it is still making the noise the will check the tolerences in the waste gates and if they are out of spec they will replace them. Might want to wait till it gets worse tho. The noise itself isn't a huge deal if the car still drives well.

Good luck. Also make sure that after they replace the turbos to do the "waste gate valve conversion" so you have no lag.
