G37S Driver

I was doing my own thing and just took a glance at a G37S next to me. Not giving it much more thought, I took off at a light that is a pseudo highway early Sunday morning (speed limit is 60mph). I take it up to around 75 and let off. Apparently, the guy had been trying to catch up for a while. All the sudden, I see him in my rear view and then doing a fly by at maybe 90.

I just hope he wasn't racing me off the line, because he got absolutely destroyed if he was. He must have been 8-9 car lengths behind. He "flew by" when I had already let off a good 5 seconds.

Why the fly by?

Happens to me all the time. I'm not sure what the deal is when people do like 2x the limit to fly by you (after you've obviously beaten them and let off to obey the law), and then when they are 1/2 mile ahead, slow up and do the speed limit again.

Makes me do a

I do the same in my truck. It has 430HP, so puts down decent power, so you can really walk away from a lot of vehicles.

Same on thing on the highway. I'll get some tool riding my a**, so I'll put it to the floor, and get a mile ahead of them. They'll pin it to catch up and follow me again.

I should add it doesn't even matter what vehicle it is. Could be a beat up old neon, and the same drill.....

I had a Pontiac G8 GTP or whatever the one is with the quad exhausts "shadow" me for miles down one of our toll roads after I completely destroyed him accelerating from about 50 to triple digits as we entered the roadway from an on-ramp. He was pushing as hard as he could but I kept running away from him and I finally settled down at 80 or so for several miles before he "blew" by me from 1/4 mile behind. Ya gotta wonder.

sounds like you both weren't "racing" at either time lol.

Everyone has jokes...haha. Just sharing a story, albeit not the best one in the world. Throw a fellow BMW guy a bone, mang.

he wasnt racing you, a g37s would fall that far behind.

I think the OP has Dinan Stage 2, so it's plausible.

My point is if you walk away from a guy, then slow up to the speed limit, WTF is the point of the guy keeping it pegged to blow by you, and then slow up to drive in front???

It's like "you got spanked, but you were waaaayyy cooler than me to exceed the speed limit for a lot longer just to get in front, where, obviously, your vehicle doesn't have the nards to actually keep that position..."
