Driving back home after watching Inception (great movie btw) I was at the uphill curvy part of topanga canyon blvd heading towards 118 East. This black accord kept on bugging me so i just decided to give it a little gas just so he wouldnt be besides me (road was empty) i put it on sport mode and right after i hit 60, guess what!? ENGINE MALFUNCTION REDUCED POWER . So i carry on and merged to the freeway and went at freeway speeds, then i got curious about the reduced power part so i gunned it and i honestly felt no lost in power. I think its the HPFP so im getting it checked tomorrow, ive been having long cranks and on occasions idle that feels like the cars gonna stall. What do you guys think? I thought HPFP failures put you on limp mode and you cant go over a certain rpm? please correct me if im wrong.

Thanks

Definitely sounds like the HPFP to me. You have all the symptoms for sure. When mine died it didn't ever give me any lights or limp mode at all. I just got the long cranks so I brought it in right away.

Yea at first i felt that the concept of the film was too complex for me, then it explained everything. The hallway gravity scene just KILLED IT.

Anyways i dropped it off to the dealer today and they told me they were going to fix a recall - software update as well. Hopefully they just replaced everything. This is my 4th visit since i got the car, and its only been 2 months

Leonardo Dicaprio performed inception on your fuel pump while it was off telling it that death was the only way out.

Don't worry, it will be covered by warranty and they will replace your current fuel pump (881 serial number) with a new one (943 serial number) and that should make you impervious to Dicaprio's inceptive powers.

Very similar to what hapepned to me a few days ago. HPFP replaced this week.

Dealer will confirm. If HPFP, PLEASE file a NHTSA report so they can track this situation.

Mikemidd, did they update your software first before changing the HPFP?>
