Dealer drove the car 9 Miles on Road Test.....Normal?

Alan l.2010-08-18 14:55:52 +0000 #1
Had long cranks so i brought it in. Said all they need to do at this time is update the cars software to the latest and greatest to fix the long cranks.

Had the car over night and when i picked it up it had about 9 miles more than when i dropped it off. Invoice said something about updating software and DME adaptation reset road test. Sent fastdata to bmw...

I seriously hope they weren't beating the crap out of my car during those 9 miles which seems to be a lot for a road test considering all they did was just a software update.

sometimes they drive like hours to figure it out. Dont be too much angry about ur 9miles.

It better to be fixed.

they have a 50 mile margin. it can take up to that amount

Crap sorry for posting it in the wrong section.

I just wanted to get an idea what the norm was for dealer road tests. I've read far too many horror storys about kids working at the dealers going for extended joy rides in modded cars just for fun. I figure since my car was just getting a software update they didn't need to really drive it for that long as if they were trying to diagnose an issue.

dont be too alarmed. if they did take it out..it was most likely to pick up lunch and bring it back to the dealer. does your car interior have a hint smell of BK? lol

lol thank god no. I checked the car up and down and everything seems perfect just like i gave it to them. I'll know for sure when i give my car a good detail again this weekend.

hey, at least they didnt take it to watch a baseball game(approx 50 round trip) and leave the tickets on the dashboard.

I think it's normal. They did a software update for my car because of long cranks and they drove it for 15 miles.

Nine miles! That’s 4 ½ miles each way! You should consider getting the FBI involved if you suspect they drove the car across state lines…
