You can't turn it off, but you can set the RPM it starts to come on, and just set it to 8000 rpm and you will never see them.

Thats been available for a while and it's not that expensive..
I have seen this "Sport Steering Wheel I" on bmw.com for some time
but bmwusa.com has nothing on it. There is no info online either..
