Hey guys. This is my first post but not to the forums. I sold my HONDA hatch back which was for drag only. But I'm becoming a family man but still love cars and especially Turbo equipped. Looking at the 335i cuz its one of the best handling, and upgradable vehicle around. However, I hear lots of horror stories about the hpfp and other minor things.I'm torn. I really like but having a kid on the way andand worrying about reliability down the line really scares me. How common is the unreliability of this car or how reliable can it be?

Thanks guys

I have had 25,000 trouble free miles (out of 60,000 total)

Only kidding.

Other than having tires eaten by NYC roads the car has been trouble free for 3 years and 25,000 miles. My biggest gripe was the RFTs which I got rid of within 2 weeks.

45,000 miles and read on, if I could do it over, I'd buy a 328i with a manual Transmission:

TO DATE PROBLEMS:

• 3- HPFP's replaced

• 1-LPFP replaced

• 6 Fuel injectors replaced

• Seat belt hand off butler replaced

• 2-cup holders replaced

• Sway bar bushings replaced via SIB

• NIC, neutral idle control update, sticky brake syndrome

• Rear Brake sensors replaced due to squeaking issues (TWICE) Still

present

• Driver seat assy replaced, original was loose and squeaky

• DVD navigation unit replaced (TWICE)

• Tail light bulb replaced (TWICE)

• Passenger xenon headlight assembly replaced

• Passenger DLR bulb replaced

• Noisy Exhaust valve flap assembly, fixed TWICE, problem still there

• Front right tire replaced due to bulge/bubble

• Driver’s Lumbar switch replaced

All covered under warranty, but I have 4,000 miles left and getting worried.

I love BMW just and much as I hate it. The reliability is atrocious

how the hell you have all those problems? mine has 40k+ miles i have only had replaced

1 hpfp

driver side door trim

passenger side headlight washer cover.

and lock actuators

i would say thats pretty good considering all the other things that other people have been having.

That many problems is extremely rare, a lot of people have had the pump replaced, I had mine done at 16k, im at 20k now and no issues since. BMW's in general aren't the most reliable to begin with, but thats something we all knew when we bought these.

Had mine for a week now, no problems, but that's not saying much after a week. However the driving experience is like no other and the torque is great. This is coming from a stock 335i too, so if you add a tune and aftermarket parts, it'll totally transform the car. I love the car and I don't think you should let the HPFP stop you from purchasing the car.
