6MT stuck in 2nd gear!

It's just one of those days.

I slept in this morning and forgot I had an 8:30 dentist appointment called and got it delayed by 20 minutes but traffic was pretty bad and I didn't get there soon enough. Just when I got near the dental office they called and told me they had to move me to 12:00. Not a big deal though, stay in a good mood!

I went to the dentist at 12, they made me pay a $25 missed appointment fee then I had a moderately painful cleaning done. Not a big deal though, stay in a good mood!

When that was all over, I went to the parking lot and noticed a small scratch on the front fender. Not a big deal though, stay in a good mood!

Then I drive out of the parking lot nice and city smooth, not doing anything silly/fun. F*k*ng can't get the shifter out of 2nd I try to get it out using moderate to high force, no cigar (I'm 6'4" 245lb, not a muscle man but strong enough to break shit if I don't be careful). Oh well, at least I'm in the city and the clutch is working, so 2nd is the best gear to be stuck in. Not a big deal though, stay in a good mood!

I take it into the dealer they can't get it out of gear. They start the engine give it moderate revs, try again, it's still stuck, repeat the process a couple of times and finally get it out, but at first with the engine off they cant get it back into first, second or (I think) reverse. slowly they become able to get it in but they say it feels notchy. After a while of moving it around, the box feels normal so a tech takes it out for a test drive. Not a big deal though, stay in a good mood!

When he returns he says while driving he could not engage first or second. Nobody at my dealership has heard of such a case. I relate that I had read something similar on these boards, but the clutch did not return to the engaged position, his answer was that this was a more common case and related to problems with the brake fluid (a similar answer was given in the other thread). Kinda a big deal now, hard to stay in a good mood!

I sit around for a bit and they start talking about declaring a PUMA case my heart starts to drop. Most of the PUMA cases I've read about on these boards take months to resolve. This is a big deal now, in a bad mood!!

They give me a loaner a 323 I don't think you guys get these in the US it's a 200hp version of a 3 series. Not much power, but at least it's a BMW right?

WRONG!! After the M3 it feels like a slop bucket, driving away from the dealer I realize that I will never again be satisfied by a car that costs less than $70k!!! This is a really big deal now, gonna go home and break shit!!

--->update: They gave me a 118hp Mini Cooper and I love driving it! YAY, I'm not a car snob after all!<---

Has anyone else had this?

So before anyone else can say it......

DCT FTMFW!!!!!

LOL, good story. Sounds the clutch hydraulics went bad. Sometimes this can damage the transmission as well. No worries, car should be back together shortly.

Should have bought DCT.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope it's a cheap fix.

Track the loaner man! Put a bottle of nos in it FTW.

Something i've always wanted to do... but you can be first.

My brother warned me about that. He said when I get my M3 I can only go up in the car world.

Good luck with the repairs!

Sure. I got home and played with my son and I'm perfectly happy again. Shows what's really important in life.
