Delays at VPC

Mjolnir2010-08-29 23:41:42 +0000 #1
2011 BMW M3 ZCP is sitting at VCP since May 30.

I understand there were delays related to air bag sensors last month.

Anyone know what the current holdup is?

since May 12th. Boat arrived in NYC on the 12th--4 weeks tomorrow--I'm getting more than a little irritated about it. BMW of North America, LLC provided this response to my email: "BMW is experiencing delays in releasing some 2011 model year vehicles due to emissions certification and technical issues. We are working diligently to correct the issues but cannot confirm a release date at this time."--Not very encouraging. I contacted my dealer and they checked with BMW & they said it is not unusual for a European Delivery car to spend 3 weeks at the port/preparation center. However, since it has been MORE THAN THREE WEEKS they apparently agreed to make mine a priority.

Therefore, I can expect it any week now.

Sometimes Customs disassembles ED cars to make sure they're not being used to smuggle drugs or weapons.

Aw man. Just when I got all excited that my boat docked today...

I did ED as well.

What's throwing me off with ED is there shouldn't be issues with the car. I.e. seat modules. Because the car was delivered at the Welt to be driven that day. So it had to be 100% complete. Am I missing something? Of course there is still the issues with customs...

I am thinking the same thing.

Although my build week was week 16, which is within the supposed seat module issue build range, I took delivery two weeks after that so I would figure that BMW would have addressed the "safety issue" prior to me taking the delivery at Welt.

On a side note...

The Delivery Specialist pictured above (Petra), was my Delivery Specialst too!

I thought she did a great job!

Thanks for letting me know Hoo. Sounds like I'm in for a wait if mine landed on May 30.

Guys, I think the seat module is US safety standard issue. I'm glad I left my front plate bracket in the trunk as it seems this is holding up several vehicles as well. I'm tempted to skip PCD just to get my car here as soon as possible.

You can be sure I'll be sending pics of my front plate mount to the VDC if they try to hold mine up for that. Especially considering the Delivery Specialist and the Agent at drop-off both told me to take it with me!

Bahahahahahaha, the sad thing is they wouldn't hesitate to do this and turn in the car completely disassembled. I've dealt with customs many times before and...................let's just say they are fascinating people.

Sorry to thread jack a bit, but my M3 was dropped off in Munich on May 8th. Now I just called the BMW 1-800 number (800-831-1117), it says my car is still in transit... After a whole month?

How did you guys know when you car arrived at the port anyways?

thanks.
