Well guys just bit the bullet and ordered a Viper Max winch 3000pd, i figured it would come in handy when out in the trails and riding solo and get in to heavy stuff. I purchased it from moto-alliance for $134.99 with free shipping. Comes with mountaing plate all accessories, 9' remote cable, and rocker switch etc....My question is where did you guys draw power from to connect to the remotes that it will only work when the key is in the on position? Should be in friday, cant wait, hopefully this will be the last thing I will buy for the brute!!!! >>>>>>

If you follow the directions that come with it, it will only have power with the key on

but sorry it is not the last thing you buy for the brute. you will always want something else.

just installed one on a 2010 brute....there is a black/yellow and a brown wire that feed the auxillary power plug ...the brown wire is 'key switched' power....that is where i tapped for the handlebar mounted switch

thanks guys for the info, outskirtdweller i appreciate the much info as well, the winch i ordered also came with the 9' remote cable switch, can i tap both the toggle and remote cable switch to the auxillary plug wire?

I also have a 2010 and got my power from the aux plug. Yes, you can tap into it for both rocker switch and wired umbillical switch. You will never use both switches at the same time anyway. The umbillical wired remote will hardly get used anyway. I didn't even put mine in.

The directions that came with my winch only said to find switched power for that lead. It was not specific as to what wire to find. Most of these instructions are generic as they are the same winch for a kawi as a honda, as a yamaha. The only vehicle specific instructions are with the mounting plate.
