I have been fighting that for a year. 38 too lean, but 40 is two rich. Going to the 40 will probably fix it. But I bet you find it is overly rich on the low end. My bike runs rough untill it warms up but is not to bad. If you do decide to go with the 40, make sure you get a high flow air filter, a high flow pipe, and if you snorkel it, use the 3" pipe all the way up, and you may create enough air to satisfy the 40. Obviously you will need to adjust the rest of the carb for the additional air.

I have a HMF Utility in great shape that is about a year old if you are interested, if you don't have a pipe. I am asking $150, and will split the shipping with the buyer anywhere in cont. US. PM if you are interested, and good luck with the jetting.
