05 BF 750 Engine Noise???

poolege2010-08-12 15:55:23 +0000 #1
I may be getting an 05 BF750 with an engine noise. I haven't heard it but the guy says it runs and drives fine but even after adjusting the valves theres still noise. Whats the worst case scenario money wise to fix it. I can do the labor but I don't want to go in the hole on parts. If I find out anything else about the noise I will update this thread immediately. Also, whats it worth? It's all stock and everything else is fine.

I sure would like to have an extra BF but I can't stand to take a loss right now. Thanks for any info.

Thanks,

George

The guy said it sounds like valves but louder. It has 530 miles on it. He's gonna send me a video tomorrow I think. My thinking is if it's running and not leaking oil that at worst it may need crank work.

Whatcha guys thinking with the little info I have been able to give so far?

Thanks,

George

Thats exactly what I was thinking. If it was twards the top of the engine and he thought it was valves, maybe timing chains?

Thanks,

George

90% sure its timing chains. Usually oil change periods were too long. I've done many and the oil was dark dark. Always replace all 4. Check the oil pump for scoring since yer in there. Oh and the timing procedure is always fun too.
