no spark

After going through a water hole, barely over my 28 MSTs, the Brute was idleing kinda high so I stopped to turn the idle down and it dies. It almost restarted once but made an awful grinding sound like the starter was not completely engaging. After that it never even hit a lick. There is no fire to the plugs at all. Have replaced the CDI with a known good unit and iat didnt help.

OK I am open to all suggestions here as to what to check.

Kinda wondering about the timing chains?

I am going to be taking the plastic off in the next few weeks so it will be easier to work on.

Thx

check and see if you got power to the coils check the back of the plug on the coil and see if there is power if there is power its your coils if no power start testing you wire for a short in them

when checking the coils can i do it with a test light? if so am i looking for a steady light or a pulsing light? or do I need to be looking for a specific voltage? Greg G

Greg,

So, your quad is not even cranking when you push the START button?

If the engine is not cranking, there would not be any spark because the stator is not rotating either and the pick up coil would not send a signal for ignition (no spark).

Anyway, to me, it sounds more like mechanical issue like starter gear or torque limiter gear problem.

The motor will spin over very well but no spark.
